Custom Wood Signs

Uniquely Created for You by Maryland’s Premier Custom Handcrafted Wood Shop

Looking for a unique wooden sign? Handcrafted right here in Frederick, MD, for residential or commercial use? Look no further than JAKKSS.

For decades, we’ve been politely, and beautifully, telling people where to go when they can’t figure it out, one custom sign at a time. Your sign is the first thing people will see, so put your best foot forward and make a custom wood sign as memorable as you are.

Every sign starts with a real conversation, not a template. Tell us what you’re picturing. A family name. A business logo. An address people can read from the street. Our craftsmen will sketch it out before a single board gets cut. You’ll see the design before we build it, so there are no surprises when it shows up on your door or fence line.

We build every sign from real hardwood. Oak. Mahogany. Cherry. Bamboo. Maple. Walnut. The same species we use across all of our custom pieces. Hand-lettered, carved, or routed, and finished to hold up outdoors through Maryland winters and summers alike, a JAKKSS sign is built to outlast the trend it was made for.

A wood plaque makes a lasting gift for a retirement, an anniversary, or a milestone worth marking. And it looks just as sharp mounted outside as a wooden business sign, welcoming customers through the door. We hand-letter, carve, and finish every piece in our shop just outside Frederick, so no two plaques or signs look quite the same.

Need a custom farm sign to mark your property? Or a custom wood sign for a business, nursery, or family cabin? We’ve built them all for customers throughout Frederick and the surrounding area. We’re happy to talk through wood species, lettering styles, and mounting options before you commit to a design.

We’re a family-run shop, not a factory. From the first sketch to the final coat of finish, Jay and Matt build every sign by hand. When yours is done, it looks like it was made for you, because it was.
